Melbourne Airport, also known as Tullamarine Airport, opened in 1970 and is Australia's second-busiest airport after Sydney. It is located approximately 23 km north-west of the city centre and serves as the main hub for many international and domestic flights. It is the only international airport in the Melbourne metropolitan area and is one of the few airports in Australia that operates 24/7. The airport is also known for its close proximity to nature – on occasion, kangaroos can even be seen in the fields around the airport from the runway.
