Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is Taiwan's largest airport and is located approximately 40 kilometres west of Taipei. It opened in 1979, replacing Songshan Airport as the country's main international airport at the time. Today, it is the most important aviation hub for the Asian region and the home base for airlines China Airlines and EVA Air. The airport is named after the nearby city of Taoyuan and, with its two large terminals, offers modern facilities and numerous connections worldwide.
