The Odessa International Airport opened in 1961 and is located approximately 7 km south-west of the city centre. In 2021, the airport received a new modern terminal that handles both international and domestic flights. Odessa is an important hub for trade and tourism on the Black Sea, and the airport plays a significant role in connecting the region.

Places of interest

The famous Potemkin Stairs are the landmark of Odesa. With their optical illusion, narrow at the bottom and wide at the top, they lead from the harbour up into the city and offer a wide view of the Black Sea.

A jewel of architecture is the magnificent Odessa Opera House, considered one of Europe's most beautiful. Its baroque facade and ornately decorated interior leave not only music lovers speechless.

Deep beneath the city lie the Catacombs of Odesa – a sprawling labyrinth, approximately 2,500 kilometres long, that ranks among the largest in the world. Once quarries, later a place of refuge and concealment, they tell of the city's many layers of history.

The elegant Primorsky Boulevard is a green promenade above the Potemkin Stairs. Lined with historic buildings and offering magnificent views of the harbour, it invites you to stroll and linger – a atmospheric spot, especially at sunset.
