Jerk Chicken
Jerk chicken is Jamaica's most famous barbecue dish. The chicken is marinated in a spicy blend of allspice and Scotch bonnet chili peppers, then slowly grilled over pimento wood. This special preparation method gives the meat a distinctive, smoky aroma. Originally developed by runaway slaves in the 17th century, jerk chicken is now a symbol of Jamaica's culinary freedom and flavour.

Sangster International Airport is the most important airport in northern Jamaica and was named after Sir Donald Sangster, a former Prime Minister of Jamaica. The airport opened back in the 1940s and is now one of the most significant tourist gateways in the Caribbean. Sangster International is particularly geared towards tourism and has been modernised several times to cope with the growing passenger numbers. Charter and scheduled flights from North America and Europe mainly land here.

A special highlight is the famous „Hip Strip“, a lively promenade right on the coast, lined with bars, shops, and restaurants with a Caribbean flair. Very close by, Doctor's Cave Beach invites you to relax – a world-renowned beach with fine, white sand and turquoise blue water, ideal for swimming and sunbathing.

A little further east lies Rose Hall Great House, a lovingly restored 18th-century mansion. In addition to impressive colonial architecture, visitors can expect an exciting ghost legend and a dreamlike view over the sea.

A short drive away is Dunn's River Falls Park, one of Jamaica's most famous waterfalls. The terraced cascades invite you to climb and cool off, and are among the island's most popular natural experiences.
