Phuket International Airport is the gateway to the stunning beaches of Southern Thailand and one of the country's busiest airports. The airport is only a few kilometres from the famous Patong Beach. A special highlight: the runway is so close to the sea that many visitors at „Mai Khao Beach“ watch the planes on their spectacular approach over the beach – a popular photo opportunity and known as „Airport Beach“.

Places of interest

Perched high above the island, the imposing Big Buddha of Phuket presides. A 45-meter tall statue made of white marble, it not only radiates spiritual tranquility but also offers an impressive panoramic view of the tropical landscape and the Andaman Sea.

The island's spiritual centre is the magnificent Wat Chalong Temple, Phuket's most important Buddhist temple. It is visited by both locals and visitors as a place for prayer and admiration of traditional architecture.

Phuket Old Town surprises with its very own charm: colourful Sino-Portuguese colonial buildings, lovingly run cafés, and small galleries create a relaxed atmosphere between history and creativity.

Along the west coast, the well-known beaches of Patong, Kata and Karon beckon with fine sand, turquoise waters, and a wide range of water sports. From relaxing sunbathing to an active day on a surfboard, there's something here for every mood.
