Faa'a International Airport is the main airport in French Polynesia and was opened in 1960. It is located on an artificially created peninsula near the city of Papeete on the island of Tahiti. The airport is the gateway to the dream islands of the South Seas, including Bora Bora, Moorea, and Rangiroa. Despite its secluded location, there are connections here to Europe, North America, and other Pacific islands. The runway partly runs over the water and offers spectacular views of the turquoise sea during take-off and landing.
