John F. Kennedy International Airport is the largest airport in New York State and one of the most well-known in the world. It opened in 1948 and was named after the 35th President of the USA. JFK is located approximately 25 km southeast of Manhattan and is an important international hub, particularly for long-haul flights to Europe and Asia. It has six operational terminals and is famous for its futuristic TWA Flight Center, which is now used as a hotel. Over 60 million passengers are handled here annually.
