Hurghada International Airport is one of the most important airports on the Red Sea and the second largest airport in Egypt after Cairo. Originally the airport was a small military airbase before it was expanded for international tourism in the 1980s. Today, it receives millions of beach and diving holidaymakers from all over the world annually and is considered an important gateway to the popular resorts on the Red Sea coast.

Away from the coast, an excursion into the Egyptian desert leads to encounters with Bedouin culture. On a jeep tour or a camel ride through the barren landscape, accompanied by the light of the setting sun, you can experience a completely different side of Egypt – peaceful, vast, and timeless.

• Sunscreen – forget it and you’ll be a human rotisserie chicken in seven minutes. Officially tested & not recommended.
• Quad biking in the desert sounds cool, until afterwards you have sand in your socks, ears and presumably your brain. Free desert spa!
• Camels walk like models, spit like professionals, and look at you like you're the buffet but disappointing.
• „Alcohol-free“ in Hurghada often means: „You only notice it with the second drink.“ The bartender just smiles and says „Special Mix“. Trust is good. Water bottle in the room: better.
