Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 ouvert en 1916 \u00e0 l'origine comme a\u00e9rodrome militaire. Schiphol se trouve sous le niveau de la mer \u2013 plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment \u00e0 environ 4 m\u00e8tres en dessous ! De plus, l'a\u00e9roport poss\u00e8de sa propre biblioth\u00e8que, la premi\u00e8re en son genre au monde, o\u00f9 les passagers peuvent lire gratuitement des livres hollandais et des livres d'art.
