Since 2011, it has officially borne the name of Catalan politician Josep Tarradellas. The airport impresses with its modern terminal architecture and is used by over 50 million passengers annually. There is also an interesting fact: the airport is partly located in a protected nature reserve, the Delta del Llobregat \u2013 aeroplanes and bird species share the airspace here!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33%\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Places of interest<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The world-famous Sagrada Fam\u00edlia, Antoni Gaud\u00ed's unfinished masterpiece, is Barcelona's architectural landmark and a symbol of the city's creative power. Also designed by Gaud\u00ed is the whimsical Park G\u00fcell, which delights with colourful mosaics, curved lines, and magnificent views over the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another highlight is Las Ramblas, Barcelona's vibrant boulevard with street performers, flower stalls, and numerous caf\u00e9s \u2013 a lively meeting point for locals and visitors alike. In the heart of the historic Barri G\u00f2tic rises the imposing Barcelona Cathedral, whose medieval fa\u00e7ade and tranquil courtyard are impressive examples of Gothic architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The green Montju\u00efc hill offers a successful blend of nature and culture: extensive gardens, renowned museums, and the historic Castell de Montju\u00efc, from which there is a spectacular view over the harbour and city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Useless knowledge<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The worst drivers in the world are said to be from Barcelona. So, during your Barcelona holiday, you'd best leave the car alone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In Barcelona, there's a statue of Columbus pointing towards America. But the kicker: the statue doesn't actually point to America, but in the completely wrong direction. Columbus must have been a bit confused.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you walk along La Rambla, you'll notice that almost every dog is allowed to walk around with sunglasses on.
